Tracy Dovey

I am a visual artist who works across a range of media, originally crochet and textile but more recently in sculpture, installation and performance. I have a sensory approach to connecting to materials, most of them domestic recycled waste. I am very interested in experimentation and cross collaborations with artists from other disciplines and also outside of the field of the arts. Across the years, my practice has delved into the visual and metaphorical links between neuroscience and crochet, the cracking and transformations of womanhood after the menopause and more recently the opening and reconnecting to nature.

I’m an artist based in Southampton, and I work freelance as a specialist in Artist Support, helping other creative people with their work. Drawing on my 20+ years experience as an animation director, creative business owner, university lecturer, and work with local and national arts organisations, I provide one-to-one advice and support with: finding opportunities and building networks planning a project or activity feedback on your work making an application for funding managing work-life balance I also run workshops, deliver training and host panel discussions events and crit groups, and I provide access support for funding applications. I am a professional freelance artist and community arts facilitator based in Fleet, Hampshire, with over 25 years’ experience working across London and the South East. I specialise in plasticine model making, mosaics, and printmaking, delivering inclusive, hands-on workshops through my business Art for Everyone. I work with people of all ages and abilities in schools, festivals, community settings, and care environments. I believe passionately in the power of creativity to support wellbeing, build confidence, and bring communities together, creating fun and supportive spaces where everyone is encouraged to explore their own artistic potential.
