Ian Dogstar

I am a freelance heritage professional, dedicated to supporting museums to connect with communities and tell stories that matter. I am experienced in (i) oral history interviewing and museum audio production (ii) interpretation and exhibition development, (iii) co-curation and co-production; (iv) project management; (v) training & facilitation (vi) securing grant funding; (vii) audience development; and (viii) charity sector leadership. I am based in Hampshire and work throughout the south of England and the Midlands. I am passionate about the power of museums to promote wellbeing and place-shaping. I have an affinity to the Solent region and especially enjoy helping a wide variety of people to flourish through community-led participation.

I am a freelance commercial photographer covering Hampshire and beyond.  I have extensive experience photographing art, exhibitions, events and performances.  I work on location in galleries, museums and attractions photographing exhibitions and visitors enjoying their experiences.  I also have a studio where I work on a variety of projects including product photography, corporate portraiture and advertising. I also have experience photographing the work of charities and organisations who need compelling imagery to document their activities for fund raising or annual reports. I have 30 plus years experience developing, designing and making hands-on, interactive and educational exhibits for Museums and Science Centres. I now have my own business offering consultancy in the field and designing and producing exhibits. My experience includes, concept design, exhibit development and prototyping, evaluation and feasibility assessment, production and install. It is a wonderfully interesting and enjoyable mission. I have also developed an interactive donation box for museums and science centres that amuses and informs the visitors as they make their generous donations.
