About Me

I am an audio-artist that uses music hardware (no laptop) to create music which I adapt live- effectively remixing my own music in real time. I tend towards the techno genre but relish the challenge of creating site-specific music such as I did as part of the Q121 project- playing music live in the historic wind tunnel in Farnborough to a paying audience.

I also like to create unique sounding instruments or sound sources using contact microphones or by “circuit-bending” older electronic toys. By creating unique instruments this way- old, unwanted toys can be sustainably given new leases of life and become both sonically and artistically pleasing or interesting.

I like to collaborate with other artists.

I am a photographer passionate about social documentary, environmental portraiture, and visual sociology. I try to place ethics at the core of my practice, often working in socially engaged ways and via partner negotiation and collaboration. I am a children’s playwright, poet and community creative writing facilitator. With fifteen years experience working in the sector, I have had multiple plays for primary school age children to perform published and have had works for children and families commissioned from theatres and arts organisations. My playwrighting focus is on inclusive history that is curriculum-adjacent or locally relevant and I’m particularly passionate about amplifying the stories of marginalised women and girls from the past. I work with schools and in the community delivering a range of bespoke workshops to young people, families and to those living with dementia and their carers.

I have been involved in the music business for over 35 years as a studio engineer and later specialising more in restoring and mastering recordings. I work for both individual artists and record labels. I have a strong interest in helping to promote music and also helping people with music technology – particularly as a moderator on the Sound On Sound forum. I also have an electronic engineering and computing background which helps me to make sense of much of the new technology that it constantly emerging.
