About Us
The Diving Museum is located in No2 Battery Stokes Bay Road Gosport. The museum is undergoing a redevelopment to repair and improve the building making more of it accessible to the public. The plans include new displays which will tell 3 stories: the history of diving, the history of No2 Battery, and the story of Stokes Bay.
Until May 2025 the museum had been managed and operated solely by volunteers. Following funding and as part of the redevelopment it now has a small museum team of employed staff.
The museum will reopen in 2026 and offer events, activities, and an education programme.

Our goal is to create a happier, healthier and stronger future for local people. We won’t rest until everyone has the confidence, support and opportunity to be active on their own terms. Physical activity transforms lives. Our work is helping people to reduce their risk of major illnesses and depression. With your help, we are enabling communities to thrive. But we still have a long way to go. We are one of 42 Active Partnerships who work with partners to create an active nation.

The South Downs National Park has it all – rolling hills, glorious heathland, river valleys, ancient woodland, thriving villages and towns. We are the youngest National Park in England, and the most densely populated, spanning from Winchester in the west to Eastbourne in the east. This iconic landscape is managed in partnership for nature, beauty and heritage, for the benefit of people – communities and visitors alike. It has been a refuge and sanctuary, a working landscape and a recreational one, an inspiration for artists over centuries. We both seek to preserve the unique archaeological and historical legacies of past communities and support the creation of new responses to the landscape by contemporary artists, writer and makers.
