Deryck is CEO and Artistic Director of Play to the Crowd, an Arts and Education Charity incorporating Theatre Royal Winchester, Hat Fair and Playmakers. Its vision is to ‘Delight and Unite Communities’ and this drives Deryck’s passion for the arts. Before coming to Winchester in 2017, Deryck was CEO and Artistic Director of Pavilion Dance South West, a national dance development organisation, and before that he was Artistic Director of Salisbury Arts Centre. Deryck’s background is in theatre, teaching and arts development. Prior to working in arts management, he spent fifteen years teaching and managing performing arts courses. Deryck believes arts and education have the power to transform lives and are fundamental to a life worth living.

Play to the Crowd is an Arts and Education Charity. We believe in a world where Communities are Delighted and United through live performance and participation. We put culture, learning, joy and community at the heart of all our work. We run both a beautiful heritage venue, Theatre Royal Winchester, and the internationally recognized Outdoor Arts Festival, Hat Fair.
