Priority places
In 2023, Hampshire Cultural Trust became a National Portfolio Organisation for Arts Council England.
Funded through to 2026, we joined the portfolio to help increase arts and cultural engagement in areas where it is low, known as priority places. We work in three of Arts Council’s priority places in Hampshire – Gosport, the New Forest and Rushmoor.
We are working to
achieve three key aims in each priority place.
Increase engagement
We are getting more people out to enjoy arts and culture.
We do this by directly delivering programmes – both in our venues and out in the community with partners – that are designed to entice local people to engage with arts and culture for the first time (or the first time in a long time!).
Provide support
We support local individuals, groups and organisations to build the reach and quality of their work.
We are here to give advice to organisations looking to develop, make connections between people working locally and further afield, support funding bids and make information sharing a bit easier. If you’d like to talk to our team about your work in a priority place, book an appointment with us.
Advocate for culture
We are a proud advocate for the
long-term future of arts and culture in priority places.
Working closely with local and national partners, we aim to secure a sustainable future for arts and culture in these regions by influencing the shape of longer-term planning and priorities.
